Jose Sanchez is an experienced defense attorney, trial lawyer, and strategic advisor with over 25 years of experience navigating high-stakes litigation and government investigations, crisis management, and compliance challenges for public and private entities and accounting firms as well as for corporate officers, directors, accountants, brokers, investment advisors, and other professionals.

Before returning to law firm practice, Jose served in a global, senior in-house legal and advisory role at Deloitte, the largest  professional services firm in the world. As Americas Lead Counsel, Jose led and supported cross-functional teams working on litigation matters, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, technology implementation, and corporate reorganizations. Before Deloitte, Jose was a litigation partner and practice leader at the global law firm of Sidley Austin LLP and a senior trial lawyer with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Jose’s practice focuses on SEC and other government enforcement actions, regulatory and internal investigations, accountants’ liability defense, and securities and other complex business litigation. Jose was recently named to Securities Docket’s “Enforcement Elite” which honors the best securities enforcement defense counsel nation-wide.

Jose received his law degree from Stanford Law School (1992) and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College concentrating in Social Studies and Latin American Studies (1989). Following law school, he received a two-year Skadden Public Interest Law Fellowship and worked for the Employment Law Center – Legal Aid Society of San Francisco. Jose also served as federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Paez, then of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and then for the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jose serves on various nonprofit boards, including the Alliance for Children’s Rights, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the Harvard Club of Southern California.
