David M. Gruen is a partner in the Pasadena office of Vanderford & Ruiz, LLP. He focuses his practice on employment law, public entity defense, professional liability, and general liability.
Mr. Gruen has successfully represented some of California’s most respected law firms and real estate brokerages, as well as defended public entities, automotive dealerships, and small businesses against a variety of employment, tort, and contract claims. He has obtained stellar results, including most recently the complete dismissal of a school district from an eight-figure wrongful death and disability discrimination action.
Mr. Gruen received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he was the Senior Research Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, and earned the First Honors Award in Legal Research and Writing (the highest grade in the class). He was also selected to participate in, and completed, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Los Angeles Trial School Program. Mr. Gruen has a B.A. in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he graduated with both college honors and departmental honors. He is duly licensed to practice law before all courts in the state of California, has appeared before the California Court of Appeal, and is admitted to practice before the Central and Southern United States District Courts of California.
In both 2017 and 2018, Mr. Gruen was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star, a distinction awarded to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in California.
When not advocating for his clients, Mr. Gruen enjoys traveling with his wife and son.
