Candace Johns (State Bar No. 324587) is a litigation defense attorney whose practice is solely dedicated to defending Workers’ Compensation claims on behalf of the employer/carrier. Ms. Johns is licensed to practice law in both CA and Florida. Ms. Johns received her J.D. from Florida A&M University, College of Law. While in law school, she studied Trial technique and negotiation with famed Trial attorney Jose Baez. She was then chosen amongst a few select students earning the top grades, to complete an internship with Jose Baez following law school. Attorney Baez currently teaches trial techniques at Harvard Law School in what is considered one of Harvard Law’s most popular courses.
Ms. Johns has experience representing a variety of Worker’s Compensation Defendants, including self-insured employers and carriers, as well as public agencies. Former clients range from small family owned businesses to preeminent mega entities such as SpaceX, JPL and County of Los Angeles. Ms. Johns is experienced in all stages of litigation defense from initial intake through settlement and/or Trial. Her experience includes early settlement, litigating AOE/COE cases through Trial, negotiating favorable settlements on exposure cases, successful physician cross-examinations, lien resolution, and handling complex multi-party claims with contribution and/or subrogation issues.
Outside of work, Ms. Johns serves on the CA Bar Association’s Diversity in the Profession Committee. The Committee’s primary focus is on mentorship and inclusion of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds into the legal profession. Ms. Johns has been in practice since 2018.
