Su Lai is a Partner at Vanderford & Ruiz, LLP. She has worked exclusively in the field of Workers’ Compensation since 2002, first as a paralegal and then as a practicing attorney and member of the California Bar in 2004. She has over 11 years of experience in aggressively representing insurance carriers in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense, to include AOE/COE, contribution, arbitration and asbestos litigation. In addition, she represents employers in 132a and serious and willful cases.
She is a Legal Specialist in Workers’ Compensation, becoming certified as a Legal Specialist by the California State Bar in 2015.
Ms. Lai has served as Judge Pro Tem at various Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards in the past four years and has given numerous seminars on a variety of topics in workers’ compensation to insurance companies, most recently on SB863 and UR/IMR.
She received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. During law school, she was an extern for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office – Juvenile division where she aided the district attorneys office in prosecuting juveniles at various hearings. Ms. Lai received her B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs from Marquette University and received the President’s Leadership Scholarship for four years.
When not aggressively defending her clients, she enjoys swimming and playing basketball with her two children.
